Portable video playback devices are extremely popular these days, the number of people who actually use such products on a daily basis being extremely high (just think of all the commuters out there). For this reason, video systems that can provide a better experience than the rather tiny screens of most PMPs out there are also very popular, and that's exactly the type of product we'll talk about as follows, namely the Myvu Crystal video glasses, which offer very good viewing features at a very acceptable price point.
Quite obviously, the optical/display system is the main component of the Myvu Crystal. The video glasses sport a V3 SolidOptex optical system, which employs transmissive LCD MicroDisplay technology. The display resolution is of 640 x 480 pixels (VGA), the overall quality of the generated images being quite an impressive one as well, since we're dealing with 24-bit color depth, a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 22.5-degrees field of view.
Moreover, the Myvu Crystal has a 20-mm eye relief, 63.5 mm nominal IPD accommodation, as well as a 2-meter focal distance.
Connectivity-wise, the Crystal model has been equipped with a 3.5-mm A/V jack, a composite video connector, as well as a stereo line-in interface. All of these interfaces can be used for connecting the video glasses to a wide array of video playback devices, ranging from video iPods (touch and iPhone included) to various MP4 players, DVD players, camcorders, gaming systems, the Microsoft Zune and even the Nokia N95.
The whole Myvu Crystal video system is powered by a rechargeable Li-Polymer battery, which is powered either directly from the mains of from a mini-USB interface (4.5 hours fast charge and 12 hours USB charge).
Although the Myvu Crystal is available in several different packages, the best deal seems to be the All-in-One, which, for $324.85, will offer you just about all the cables your will ever need, regardless of the particular playback device you're using.
