Star Wars worldwide fans have all the reasons to be happy with this replica of the little droid from the movie. The robot responds to a lot of voice commands, it can easily navigate through rooms and hallways and makes every room feel like it was invaded by aliens.
The original R2-D2 robot was especially created by Australian company Petric Engineering and was precision made to a high standard. The R2 real robot version promptly responds to more than 40 different voice commands like: “Turn around!”, "Move forwards!” and more. It can also play games like tag, using an infra-red sensor to search for people in the same room.
In fact, R2 can follow closely behind you in the house, or it can be set to detect any motion inside your home. It acts like a real surveillance device and sounds an alarm when a secure area is invaded. It is impossible not to be scared by a robot that lights-up and moves towards you in total darkness, so the potential thieves might really have some problems here.
Most of the time, the R2 seems to be happy, but sometimes sad sounds faithfully mimic those of its counterpart from the movie, right down to its occasional bad mood. But if you tell it: “R2, behave yourself!" It will snap out of it.
But the best thing is that the droid can also replay sounds and dialogs from Star Wars movies, it can answer yes/no to questions and dances like crazy on any music. Fortunately, it requires only four AA batteries and four D batteries and minor assembly. The price tag is somewhere around 300 bucks. |
