After Magdan, Neon, Chroino and the famous Gunwalker robots, Takahashi-san of the Japanese Kyoto University has developed the first Female Type FT robot. The inventor has used a voguish catwalk to introduce the sexy bot to the masses.
The sensual robot was dubbed FT, standing for "female type", and not for the British Financial Times, as some of you might think. After around 13 months of hard work, research and development, the very ingenious Japanese inventor has manged to created the robot, albeit in a very limited series.
The FT robot is entirely controlled by an on-board computer, which helps it walk and move more or less like a real woman (for this reason, it sports no less than 23 DOFs – degrees of freedom). It can even lean and jump on music beats. Unfortunately, there is not much information available on this bot, at least for the time being, but the photos over at the Robot Garage look great.
Amazingly, FT's body parts were designed especially to express a sensual, feminine body line. Actually, it seems that the Japanese scientist studied professional fashion models during the design process for the FT model.
The robot features unexpectedly small sizes. It measures only 35 cm in height and weighs around 300 g, being made of mostly carbon and hard resistant plastic. The robot's smooth design incorporates the use of two separate gyro sensors, while the necessary power is supplied by a lithium polymer battery.
Until know there are only two bots of this kind, so the 300.000 bucks auction price might sound reasonable. |
