Wowwee's Roboquad is a cute animated robot with some cool multi-directional movement capabilities and sensory awareness. The funky bot has some multi-colored flashing lights and performs a bunch of techno sound effects.
Claimed to be the first robotic arthropod, Roboquad can change activities, can alternate aggression levels and alter behaviors and personality patterns. Listed on the robot's technical specification's list there are a 4-layered remote control for a better handling, no less than 72 pre-programmed functions, 4 status modes, a guard status in which the robot can visually scan the environment and lots of sound sensors for noise detection.
When not in use, the robot enters sleep mode after 5 minutes, powers down after 24 hours and uses 2 built-in demos for dance and movement. The robot's body parts are sleek and agile, it has rotating legs and an articulated neck. As for the light sensors, the headlights turn on and off.
Roboquad will react depending upon ambient light levels. It will also respond to sounds and scan for the nearest object if disturbed. As it moves though the environment, the robot will interact with it, scanning and avoiding obstacles. Its behavior is influenced by 3 controlled personality settings.
Moreover, it also uses deep IR scanner vision system and multiple scanning ranges and modes, such as smart scan (in which the robot reacts if anything happens around it), a left and right scan and an escape walk mode.
It gets powered via 4 C sized and 3 AAA batteries. The Wowwee Roboquad is priced at about 100 bucks a piece. |
