I don't know just how many of you have ever imagined a plastic bottle that, once emptied, can be rolled up, in order to occupy less space in the luggage, and then later on re-used. However, the people from Platypus have not only imagined it, but actually developed such a product, namely a portable plastic container that has a very ergonomic shape and weighs 80% less than the usual hard plastic bottles.
Besides the very low weight, the plastic containers from Platypus are tough enough to resist freezing or boiling, without losing at all their functionality. Moreover, the design is modular, so each user can create their own hydration system, by using some accessories. The containers are available in 0.5, 1 and 2 liters capacities.
The products have pretty acceptable dimensions and weights (0.5L – 5 x 7.5 inches and 20 grams, 1L – 6 x 10 inches and 23 grams, 2L – 7.5 x 13.5 inches and 30 grams) so it shouldn’t be a problem to take them with your wherever you might go.
Just imagine you want to take some bottles with you when traveling to the mountain, although all the space you have is supposed to be used by your luggage. Carrying a classic bottle is quite uncomfortable because even if you drink all the water inside, it still requires some space until you throw away your garbage.
However, using and carrying one of those Platy bottles is extremely comfortable because, even after emptying the container, it can be stored with ease by rolling the bottle up.
Many of you may think the price is a little bit too high for such a product since a 0.5L bottle costs $6.95 and a 2L container is available for about $10. However, it is extremely useful in many cases so think twice before refusing to buy them. |
