There seems to be a lot of new gadgets coming to our attentions lately that are modeled around the ability to read moods and emotions based on our body heat and more an more designers come out on the market with such innovations. This is also the case of Erin Hayne and Nuno Gonçalves Ferreira from Visual Reference Studio, who have created a new line of thermochromatic pillows.
Dubbed the Please Touch Pillow, this item is a unique interactive pillow that changes color in response to body heat. By gently touching, hugging, or leaning against the pillow you activate its color-changing properties and leave behind a dramatic print of your hand or body in a surprising new color.
The print will remain for several seconds and then gradually fade away until it disappears completely. The idea behind this piece was to turn a common household pillow into a sensorial object that offers a creative new way to express touch.
The Please Touch Pillow is made from soft synthetic lambskin or snakeskin encapsulated with thermosensitive crystals and features embroidered detailing and a zip closure. This piece is designed for indoor use. When left in a warm room, the entire pillow will also begin to shift colors on its own.
The Please Touch Pillow wants you to touch it - in a bad way. So it can change colors. Available in four original colors, dark brown, black, red and burgundy, the Please Touch pillows goes through several color hues whenever it's touched or left in a warm room.
The dark brown pillow changes to blue with body heat and, as it becomes warm it shifts through shades of brown, green and blue. The black one does exactly the same thing. The red Please touch pillow changes to violet with body heat and then shifts through shades of yellow and violet and the burgundy pillow changes to purple with body heat, so that it can then change to burgundy and purple.
You can purchase the pillow within the 15-220 US dollars price range.
