Not being a rather big company like Logitech or Thrustmaster doesn`t seem to be a problem for a little firm called Fanatec. Its goal is developing high quality gaming gaming gear and one of their successful products is the Speedster Pure steering wheel.
Gaming devices have certainly come a long way in the last few years. Before the Wii, motion detection was very rare and gaming accessories where considered to be rather "geeky" devices. Although steering wheels have made their debut as gaming devices around 10 years ago, they have improved with each passing year.
The device is made from leather-like plastic and has a very robust design. It is specially designed for the PS One and PS2 and Fanatec states that the wheel is 100% compatible with all racing games designed for these platforms. The Speedster Pure offers complete emulation of the DualShock and DualShock 2 controllers. Buttons placed on the wheel are pressure sensitive and the device is even compatible with older PS One games that don`t support the analog stick.
Pure allows users to adjust wheel sensitivity and dead zone and comes with programmable gear shifting. It can also be placed on a table and fixed with an included accessory, or users can place it on their lap if space is an issue. The device is composed entirely out of high quality black plastic. Also, the controller features activity leds on the front panel.
Such a device usually targets passionate gamers, but recently, more and more people who rarely play games are convinced that such a device can bring a whole new gaming experience. Gaming designed steering wheels have the ability to present a more immersive experience than regular gamepads or keyboards.
The pedals come with precise analog sensors and force feedback is guaranteed by two vibration motors.
