Are you looking for the ideal projector, that will help you create the perfect home-cinema system, capable of recreating that cinema-hall feeling almost perfectly, without forcing you to step out of your apartment for a single second? Well, it's hard to say whether the W10000 model from BenQ represents the ideal projector, but it is, nevertheless, one of the most advanced devices from this family available on the market.
Thus, according to the manufacturer's own statement, the W10000 is one of the few projectors that support 1080p/24fps resolution, which is used even by Blu-ray players. Moreover, it includes the Senseye Contrast Enhancement technology, which can help it reach a contrast ratio of 10000:1, a lot more than the average ratio, but also the micromirroring technology (DMD), which increases both the level of contrast and that of details, especially in darker scenes.
Since we're on the subject of image-related features, it's also important to note the fact that the projector can generate images with sizes ranging from 35 to 300 inches, with throw distances between 2 and 8 meters (100 inches at 4 meters throw ratio). Furthermore, the projector also supports a wide variety of aspect ratios, as for example Anamorphic/ 4:3/Wide/Letter Box/ Real screen.
The W10000 offers a brightness level of around 1200 ANSI lumens (this is a small light output for this projector class), generated with the help of the 250W lamp, which sports an estimated functioning life of around 2000 hours . It also boasts a 16.7 million color palette, as well as quite an OK lens (F=2.4-2.8 f=32.1 (wide) – 43 (tele) mm).
BenQ's projector also provides a wide range of connectivity interfaces, including here HDMI (with HDCP), Composite, S-Video, Component Video and a RS232 control port (no audio inputs or outputs, sadly, and no built-in speakers).
The W10000 retails for 4,000 to 6,000 US dollars, depending on the store, which is a pretty high price to pay, taking into account that one can find quite a large number of technically similar, yet less expensive products on the market. |
