Although Norcent is not as famous as some other names on the A/V products' market, the company has managed to offer quite an interesting lineup over the past couple of years, including here several plasma displays. And that's exactly the type of product we'll read about as follows, namely the company's PT-5045HD model, launched back in the first half of 2007, a plasma display offering several attractive features an an equally attractive price tag.
The first (and most important) selling point of the PT-5045HD is represented by its display, which offers a very large viewing space (50-inch diagonal, 0.81mm x 0.81mm pixel pitch) and supports resolutions of up to 1366x768 pixels. Furthermore, the device sports a 16:9 native aspect ratio, 16.7-million colors, a peak brightness level of 1300 cd/m2 as well as a 10000:1 contrast ratio. The viewing angles are also quite OK, namely 160 degrees on both horizontal and vertical directions.
Additionally, the PT-5045HD includes a sleep timer and favorite channels feature, with TV reception being provided via the built-in ATSC and NTSC tuner. Moreover, the device has been equipped with a 3D digital comb filter for accurate color processing, as well as a pretty OK audio system (10W x 2 internal speaker power, 15W x2 external power).
The PDP from Norcent also comes packed with a very wide range of connectivity options, including here Composite video (both input and output), Component video, S-Video, HDMI (with HDCP), as well as an analog audio input and a speaker output jack (line-out). Moreover, the device also incorporates a headphone jack, thus allowing users to enjoy some private listening whenever there's the case.
Norcent's PT-5045HD can be found at several retailers for around 1,400 – 1,700 US dollars, which seems to be quite a fair price tag, taking into account all the features and specs the PDP can offer. |
