Panasonic is one of the best-known names on the CE market, in fact, it is so popular that even its parent company, Matsushita Electric, has adopted its brand name. The Japanese firm has released a very large number of display solutions over the years, most of them plasma displays (PDPs). Panasonic's TH-65PZ750U, released back in the first half of 2007, falls into this very category, and is a device that offers its users an advanced set of features, with a price tag to match, unfortunately.
As expected, the most important selling point of the TH-65PZ750U is related directly to the display itself, which offers users a diagonal viewing size of 65 inches, supports resolutions of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels and also delivers a contrast ratio of up to 5000:1. Furthermore, the device has been equipped with a Generation 10 progressive 1080p HD Plasma Display Panel, which sports a 0.747 x 0.747 mm pixel pitch and is capable of displaying up to 68.7 billion colors and 4,096 shades of gradation.
Moreover, the device also supports several types of control ratios, namely 16:9 (Widescreen), 4:3, Zoom, Full, Just and H-Fill. Moreover, it offers quite a wide range of image processing features, including progressive scan, video noise reduction, Motion Adaptive 3D-Y/C digital comb filter, color purity optimizer, etc.
The PDP from Panasonic also offers quite a surprise in the area of audio output, as the TV set features 4 speakers (2 woofers plus 2 x 23 mm-slim speakers), which provide an overall audio output of 31 W (10% THD, Woofer: 8 ohms, 55Hz-350Hz, Tweeter: 8 ohms, 350Hz-17kHz) and allows the TV set to generate surround sound, as well as BBE ViVA HD3D sound.
Like most other devices of this type, the TH-65PZ750U features a wide variety of connectivity options, including here HDMI, Composite video, S-Video, Component Video, PC, analog and digital audio inputs, as well as Composite, digital and analog audio outputs. Furthermore, the device also sports an SD card slot, which allows users to view directly the contents of SD cards (typically, JPEG, AVCHD and MPEG2 files).
Furthermore, the PDP is equipped with an ATSC tuner, which allows it to receive both standard and high definition programming (PIP function via single tuner is also available).
Panasonic's TH-65PZ750U retails for around 9,000 US dollars,a large sum by any standards, but that just happens to be the price one has to pay for a high-quality display solution. |
