Over the years, the Japanese company Sanyo has rolled out quite a large number of TV sets, including here several widescreen, high-definition models. And this is exactly the type of product we'll talk about as follows, namely the 52-inch DP52848, launched in the first half of 2008, which offers a very decent set of features, albeit rather standard, at least as far as HDTVs are concerned.
Thus, Sanyo's HDTV delivers a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, combined with an 1500:1 contrast ratio and a brightness level of around 450 cd/m2. The response time is also quite an OK one, of roughly 6 ms, while the native aspect ratio is of 16:9. Moreover, in order to ensure picture sharpness and a better color reproduction, the device also sports a 3D Y/C Digital Comb Filter.
Besides providing very good-quality images, the device also offers a host of additional features most people have come to expect from high-end TVs. For example, the V-Guide feature provides Parental Control using the V-chip technology, while the backlight intensity can also be adjusted quite easily in order for the device to require less power (it usually consumes around 330 W).
The audio department hasn't been neglected, either, since the HDTV sports two front-firing, 6x12 cm speakers, as well as a built-in sound amplifier, which can deliver up to 5 Watts per channel. The audio processing system supports both digital audio and MTS/SAP Stereo Sound, thus adding even more value to this product.
Sanyo's HDTV supports the NTSC, ATSC, Clear QAM video systems and comes packed with just about every connectivity option required for a modern home entertainment system, including 3 HDMI connectors, Composite video, Component video and S-Video interfaces, plus 1-coaxial digital and 1-analog(R/L) fixed audio outputs.
Sanyo's DP52848 1080p LCD HDTV sells for an estimate 1,600 US dollars, but this price point is very likely to decrease even further in the future. |
