The Cerwin-Vega VE 5M is one small and mighty loudspeaker; it comes in almost diminutive dimensions yet packs the same advanced technologies like the “bigger box” items from the series. In fact, the sonic performance of the Cerwin-Vega VE 5M exceeds the capabilities of the “small thingie” at a first sight, since the sound isn't by any means small. On the contrary, it's bright and punchy, and with enough blast to fill in your room in good conditions.
The Cerwin-Vega VE 5M is perfect for using as a front or surround channel speaker – its small dimensions making it suitable for placing it virtually anywhere: on a bookshelf or right on the floor, hanging on the wall or placed on various floor stands. Its classy look with the wooden cabinet will make a nifty addition to almost any home decor while the removable front grille can make it look a bit more pro-like.
The Cerwin-Vega VE 5M sports a 2-way architecture based on a 5.25-inch low/mid-range driver and a 1.25-inch tweeter. Even if the Cerwin-Vega VE 5M is the smallest speaker from the whole VE series, this doesn't mean it packs less technology inside. As a matter of fact, the woofer boasts the same Fiber Impregnated Cone technology as the bigger loudspeakers and the tweeter is identical with the ones present in the higher models: the Silver/Mylar Ferro-Fluid-cooled units.
The two drivers sport 89dB sensitivity and will be able to handle a max 125W while offering a 60-20,000Hz frequency range. The Cerwin-Vega VE 5M also sports a magnetically-shielded cabinet for safe placement near video equipment. Sells for around $70. |
