The Dali Helicon C200 is the tool you should consider when deciding to start building your own custom multi-channel surround system. While most theaters-in-a-box come with rather mediocre specs, quite few of them will manage to quench your thirst for high-grade audio, especially from today's high-def audio and video media.
More and more movies sport complex multi-channel soundtracks and more and more sophisticated gear is needed if you're looking to get everything there is in such soundtracks. A good center channel loudspeaker will not only offer you the great, lifelike-sounding natural dialogs but can also make the difference between a mediocre sound and exceptional multimedia experience that will make your friends envy you.
The Dali Helicon C200 is indeed a high-end loudspeaker as it sports pretty much the same technology like the rest of the Helicon speakers. From the impeccable craftsmanship down to the last technological detail, everything is there, waiting to be used. The wood cabinet sports curved sides for better breaking of stationary waves and heavy damping meant to eliminate as much coloration as possible.
The driver complement comprises two 6.5” wood fiber cone woofers with generous rubber surrounds that can deliver bass down to 49Hz thanks to the bass reflex ports. At the same time, they can deliver crispy and clean midrange sound that adds spark and lifelikeness to both music and movies.
The HF are coming from a Hybrid Tweeter unit combining a soft textile dome tweeter and an aluminum ribbon tweeter which are differently tuned for a wider and more transparent high-frequency response up to 27,000Hz.
Dali Helicon C200 sells for around $2,000 and offers up to 250W in 4 Ohms and 90dB sensitivity, being capable of throwing 111dB sound pressure level (SPL). |
