Elac is no newcomer in the loudspeaker industry; as a matter of fact, besides benefiting from a more than 80-years experience in the field, Elac have spearheaded the branch and have built some loudspeakers that still are milestones in the audio world. Loved by many and envied by even more, these speakers have ended their commercial lives; but as some say “you cannot kill what doesn't die” - due to the high demands for certain coveted and most desirable series of Elac loudspeakers, the Germans have decided to re-issue some of them in limited editions, available through certain retailers only.
The Elac FS 137 JET is such a piece of engineering whose white papers have been once more laid on the desks of the Elac engineers. The FS 137 JET lives again, in the same eye-catching, great Elac classic finishes: cherry and titan.
The Elac FS 137 JET is once more the noble-looking floor-standing, slender, towering 2 ½ -way cabinet with rear-firing, dual double-flared bass reflex port for a deeper range of low frequencies without the chuffing ventilation noise. The amount of bass can be controlled with included special design foam plugs for the bass vents; they will partially or totally cover the „wind tunnels” for a better LF adaptation to the acoustic characteristics of the room.
The Elac FS 137 JET sports two 140mm diameter woofers with pulp/aluminium foil sandwich cone for stiff and strong operation even at high volumes which are able to deploy low frequencies down to 35Hz. The drivers of the Elac FS 137 JET are placed in a d'Apollito array, with the legendary JET ribbon tweeter in the middle.
The Elac FS 137 JET sports a ribbon tweeter whose which has made history and become one of the reference points in the industry. The internal damping ensures an almost linear response up to 50kHz which makes it simply great for SACD and DVD-Audio performance. The Neodymium magnets and the tight, secure attachment to the front baffle ensure vibration and resonance-free operation even at high volumes.
The Elac FS 137 JET sports bi-wiring terminals and has separate circuitry for bass and treble, even more, in case of significant overloads, the self-resetting fuse protects the whole device. With a frequency response between 35Hz and 23,000Hz, the Elac FS 137 JET works in 4 Ohms and sports 89dB sensitivity and will blast a max of 80W. Finally, the cabinet is magnetically shielded and can be safely placed near TVs or other similar equipment. |
