The cool thing about the Focal Chorus IC 706 V is that one can actually use these speakers to supplement a neat, Hi-Fi recessed home theater system array and create an even better sound field... let alone using these units for spreading great-sounding audio over larger areas where installing boxed loudspeakers is impracticable.
No matter whether you'll be using Focal Chorus IC 706 V's in high-end distribution audio installations or have multiple speakers installed across the room and complementing a nifty in-ceiling home theater, this unit will most likely surprise you with its vivid and sparkling sound, abounding in both pristine highs and tight, punchy bass. The Focal Chorus IC 706 V comes with custom paintable perforated aluminum grille that will help you “hide” the speaker away or set it on display by means of contrasting colors.
The Focal Chorus IC 706 V sports a 2-way architecture relying on an array comprising a mid-bass driver and a tweeter. These drivers are the same as in the bookshelf version, the Chorus 706 V: a 6.5” polyglass-cone mid-bass driver and a 1” tweeter; the bass-midrange unit also sports a rubber surround for longer and more precise excursion and its sonic response goes as low deep as 65Hz. The tweeter sports the Focal classic inverted dome made from a light but highly rigid aluminum-magnesium alloy and being able to effortlessly reach cutoff points 28kHz.
The two drivers are placed in a coaxial mode that eliminates phase distortions and most of the potential interference, allowing for the sound being reproduced with more musicality for your more pleasurable listening. This high-end in-ceiling loudspeaker works in 8 Ohms impedance and with 88dB sensitivity while the max power it can handle reaches 120W. A pair of Focal Chorus IC 706 V sells for just under $800. |
