The JBL Control 30 is the middle-sized monitor/loudspeaker that will deliver outdoor audio in the best and most reliable conditions money can buy. By far one of the niftiest such loudspeakers around, the Control 30 will offer the JBL traditional manufacturing quality and reliability, while not making any compromise as far as the quality of the sonic response is concerned.
The JBL Control 30 is one loudspeaker created for great outdoor performance around the house or even in public places: its overall power handling renders it a very loud speaker, fit for more than simple domestic applications – you can actually build entire arrays of JBL Control 30s for extended, professional-grade distributed audio rigs in larger open places such as gardens or outdoor exhibitions.
The JBL Control 30 is capable of delivering a sound you will most likely not hear form any similar priced and same-class loudspeakers. The massive 10-inch woofer sports a polypropylene-coated paper cone with JBL's proprietary WeatherEdge technology that will make sure the loudspeaker can withstand the most hostile weather and still be able to perform in the specced parameters. The woofer is capable of blasting bass down to 38Hz and this means serious bass, without the need for additional subwoofers.
The mid-range is deployed through a super-strong aluminum-cone driver 5-inch in diameter, while the 1-inch tweeter sports a titanium compression driver inside it, allowing for high frequencies up to 17kHz.
The JBL Control 30 is extremely loud: combining the max 250W continuous power-handling with the 93dB sensitivity we get a loudspeaker that will perform excellently in the open and which will make its sound heard from quite a distance. Operating in 8 Ohms impedance the JBL Control 30 will work with almost any amplifier around. Selling for about $500. |
