The Linn 106C is one neat piece of audio technology for those who are not into seeing all sorts of loudspeakers crowding up in their rooms and taking their space step by step: we're speaking in-wall loudspeakers, all hidden away form sight yet offering astonishing Hi-fi sound even in the absence of the large boxes they usually come with.
Linn have not forgotten about the distribution audio sector either: wherever serious sound is needed for sending audio over large spaces inside buildings, the in-wall speakers are by far the best solution: they do not take any space (except for the space in the wall), offer a very reliable operation (are significantly less exposed to damage than usual speakers) and can be summed for arrays such as home theater-like installations.
Thirdly, one can have some Linn 106Cs even inside the home and build up a most serious home theater place with “invisible” loudspeakers, thus leaving more room for couches and other things inside the room.
The Linn 106C comes forth as a very nifty loudspeaker that will offer serious sound, far beyond the expectations of both aware and unaware – it packs very advanced technology you don't usually meet in such speakers. The Linn 106C brings a sealed cabinet/enclosure with infinite baffle and 3-way architecture and a passive radiator; besides all these, the Linn 106C boasts a special version of the 2K driver array, the (as well) proprietary Custom 2K. This special driver unit brings together a 16mm tweeter and a 30mm midrange driver, all using the soft dome technology and offering seamless reproduction of mid/high range for a very present sound, yet detailed and “aired”, offering excellent detail and punch, regardless of the sound source, music or movie soundtrack.
The 127mm bass unit is complemented by an 127mm ABR piece that completes the range of the Linn 106C: from 20kHz down to 60Hz, in 4 Ohms impedance and 88dB sensitivity, the Linn 106C is one rectangular in-wall loudspeaker fit for the most diverse installations, in either stereo or surround applications, all around the room, or flanking your TV. |
