Many people ask themselves what makes the meridian speakers sound that different and stand from the crowd, what is the secret which makes their sound so unique and distinct. Well, the Digital Signal Processing technology is the one which allow the meridian engineers to develop some of the most acclaimed and coveted pro-grade home loudspeakers available.
The DSP series from Meridian correct the sound source in ways traditional analog equipment cant even dream about: complex crossovers and frequency-correction exactly where such things are needed finally lead to the exquisite sound of these speakers. The DSP3100 loudspeakers are the living proof that you don't necessarily need big units in order to get great sound. Thanks to the hi-tech features present in the entire DSP series, the DSP3100 are shining bright in the meridian gallery as well.
The very low coloration the DSP3100 compact cabinets give to sound is a direct result of the cabinet design process itself: combining wood and aluminium side-panels ensures a very stable bracing and compensation against vibration, since wood tends to vibrate at lower frequencies and aluminium at higher ones. This balance contributes dramatically to the overall exceptional behaviour of the DSP3100 speakers.
The DSP3100 come in both vertical (side) and horizontal (center) positioning options thus being very suitable for standalone sound systems in smaller rooms or as a perfect complement to a DSP-based surround system; and if you have multi-zonal sound in your home, the DSP3100 can easily accommodate the secondary zone role.
Both vertical and horizontal versions of the Meridian DSP3100 sport at least 2-way sound (the horizontal one is actually a 2 ½ way enclosure) with rear-ported design. While the vertical units received 160mm woofers, the horizontal ones have one 120mm LF driver. Nevertheless, don't you think that there drivers can't project serious bass in your room: the 24-bit D/A converters and the Freelance56367 module make sure your speakers sound better than most of the other speakers in the same range.
The Meridian DSP3100 sell for about 5,200 US Dollars (the vertical units) and around 3,200 USD for the horizontal (center) version. |
