The Sonance Merlot 423M and 422M bring forth two solutions for either in-wall home theater/stereo systems or for high-class distribution audio. No matter whether you're a designer having to spread great sound through the halls of a modern museum or you're just planning to redecorate your home, the architectural in-wall loudspeakers from the Sonance Merlot series will offer you the acoustic response you were looking for; even more, they'll spare you the wiring fuss and will not take up your room space, altogether.
These units have in common their architecture, based on principles that make them as good-looking as versatile and handy. A difference is made in the 422MSQ: it is the square in-ceiling version of the 422 model and due to the special mounting design, the tweeter is placed coaxially in the middle of the woofer. First of all an audio tech-related fact, the 2-driver array, based on a woofer and a high-frequency driver.
While all bass drivers sport generous rubber surrounds, this feature ensures a long throw and precisely-controlled dynamics for a round bass response reaching as low as 455Hz in the 423M model. The pure and rich, substantial bass response of these speakers comes from a carbon fiber cone (423) or polypropylene cones for 422MSQ and 422M..
The tweeter of the M models is loaded in the upper part of the front baffle in a slightly recessed waveguide ensuring better dispersion both on and off-axis while boasting a 20kHz-capable dome. The tweeters' domes are made from silk, have 1” diameters and they work with 8 ohms impedance and 90dB sensitivity.
All tweeters are mounted in pivoting structures for enhanced orientation and power handling from 60 to 80W. The most expensive are $425 a pair. |
