At a first and quick look, the Swans S200A might resemble its high-end passive version, the Swans S500 speaker set: both share the same overall shape and pretty much the same finish. Nevertheless, the Swans S200A is very different, since we're talking about a 2.0 active desktop monitoring solution, the right choice for those who feel like having a system that won't cost a fortune, but will still be able to deliver quite an OK sound.
From the softest music down to the hardest rock, the Swans S200A are there for you with constant, uncompromising sonic response and the lack of coloration you have so long sought for. Starting with a powerful and punchy, yet rich and fast bass, passing through the exceptionally detailed mids and ending up in the crystalline high-frequency sounds, the Swans S200A will deliver you an acoustic experience you've never thought possible for the money you've paid.
The Swans S200A may be small, but its sonic response strongly belies its appearance: despite its almost diminutive size, the tech remains at high levels - a 2-way bass reflex cabinet with rounded walls loaded with 2 speakers. The S5N-5 woofer can go as low as 100Hz, providing the listener with a blasting and rich experience, many loudspeakers in the same price-range and “size-chart” can barely dream of; even more, the strong Neodymium magnet motors and huge voice coil provide with fast response and accurate, focused sound, perfect for music and movies alike, with natural crispness.
The large, oval front baffle contains a 1-inch TN28 tweeter which can resonate up to 20kHz for a precise sonic imaging and vivid, sparkling sound. The Swans S200A sports an 87dB sensitivity in 5 Ohms impedance (speakers) and 22 kOhms (input) and will drive as much as 60W. The front grille can be removed for a more pro, even aggressive look. Pricing around $450, including floor stands. |
