The Yamaha NS-225F is everything you need, in case you are looking for slim and stylish floorstanding loudspeakers with precise and focused sound yet selling for affordable prices. Their tall and thin cabinets reside on neat, circular baseplates for excellent stability, even though some extra care is advisable if you have children or live with pets like cats and dogs. The wooden enclosures sport open pore luxurious finish and are made of carefully selected materials for increased performance.
Designed to be used as main or front speakers, the Yamaha NS-225F run on a d'Appolito driver array in a 2-way, bass reflex design architecture. The driver complement contains dual Polymer-injection Mica Diaphragm (PMD) woofers with rubber surrounds; these drivers ensure a neat 60Hz bottom-end for neat sonic representation of both music and movie soundtracks. While the bas response is tight and rich, the mids are well-contoured and sport enhanced presence for a soundstaging full of substance and authority.
The HF driver is a 1 1/8” aluminum-magnesium alloy dome that can reproduce sound up to a staggering, audiophile-grade 50kHz level, excellent for playing back high-def tracks like SACD or DVD-Audio. Capable of handling as much as 120W, the Yamaha NS-225F works in 6 Ohms impedance and 86dB sensitivity. They retail for around $450 a pair. |
