The number of people who chose projectors as a display solution for their home entertainment systems has increased quite a lot over the past few years, and this is the reason why quite a lot of companies have gotten involved on this growing market. And one such company is Vidikron, who, among numerous other products, launched back in November 2006 the Vision Model 150 LightAmp, which combines an advanced DLP engine with THX technology, but at an extremely high price tag.
Thus, the device employs a 3-chip DLP light engine, which allows it to project images with resolutions of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels and widths of up to 360 inches (although the recommended width is of just around 240 inches). Moreover, the respective images have a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 2000:1 contrast ratio and 16.7-million colors.
The projector uses four high precision zoom lenses with broad motorized horizontal and vertical lens shift capability. The projector also sports a very efficiently light culmination system via the included V2 technology, and features ISF calibration standards.
A 1.2 kW Xenon lampgenerates up to 6000 ANSI lumens for a period of around 1000 hours. It is accompanied by Vidikron’s all-digital VHD controller, featuring Imagix video processing, a very good level of scaling and an advanced aspect ratio control system.
The device comes with a rather poor set of connectivity options, namely just DVI with HDCP (for connecting to the VHD controller), but, nevertheless, it supports the whole range of HD resolutions (480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p).
As mentioned right from the start, the Vision Model 150 LightAmp is an extremely expensive product, retailing for around 100,000 US dollars, which is a sum very few users will actually afford. |
