The ViewSonic company has launched quite a few LCD TVs over time, most of their products targeting especially consumers on a tight budget, who are not willing to cough up very large sums of money for their LCD TVs. To some extent, that's also the case with the N2201w, released back in September 2008, an LCD TV which comes with its own, built-in DVD player.
The 22-inch display, which features an anti-glare, anti-reflective coating, offers users a 1680x1050 pixels resolution (close to 1080i), a fairly OK response time, of around 5 ms, 1000:1 contrast ratio and wide viewing angles, of 160 degrees on both horizontal and vertical directions. The built-in light source has quite an acceptable estimated functioning life (around 50,000 hours), while the brightness level is pretty standard for this family of products, namely 300 cd/m2.
The N2201w features multiple inputs, including ATSC/NTSC/QAM digital TV tuner and HDMI, for connecting to high-definition video and gaming consoles, camcorders, cable or satellite boxes and digital media players. Other connectivity options include composite, component video and S-Video interfaces, plus a 3.5mm mini stereo audio in/out and RCA (left/right) audio.
A PC input is also provided for connecting computer sources, the device supporting 1680x1050, 1024x768, 1280x768 PC resolutions and Mac-compatible resolutions of up to 1280x768 pixels.
The device offers users a wide range of adjustment options, including here auto adjust, contrast, brightness, H. position, V. position, fine tune, color temperature, picture mode
Video Mode Picture (contrast, brightness, color, tint, sharpness, color temperature), sound (volume, balance, bass, treble), input menu (TV, AV, S-video, YCbCr, YPbPr, HDMI, VGA), parental control (caption, change password, V-chip temporary disable), setup menu (time out, language, memory recall)
TV Mode MTS, TV/CATV, auto scan, set channel, channel delete, label, favorite, fine tune, etc.
Unfortunately, though, ViewSonic doesn't provide any significant information regarding the built-in DVD player, telling us just that “it's there”. However, they do mention a little something about this thing's dimensions, of 530mm x 432mm x 220mm, and weight, of around 7.8 kilos.
The N2201w from ViewSonic retails for under 500 US dollars, which makes it a pretty OK deal, all things considered. |
