Although Vizio's products are mostly known throughout the US, with relatively few exports towards other markets, the company has managed to come up with quite a large number of interesting products over the past couple of years, almost each and every one of them delivering advanced features and a good level of quality. And that also seems to be the case with the VIZIO Gallevia GV47LF, a device whose features and specs recommend it as a solution of choice for all those people who do want to enjoy a high-end, cinematographic experience, but are not willing to cough up a huge amount of money.
Since the display is, quite obviously, the main selling point of any device of this type, we'll start by mentioning that the VIZIO Gallevia GV47LF sports a 47-inch, 16:9 Wide Screen, Color TFT Active Matrix LCD, which delivers a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and whose surface has undergone anti-static and hard-coating processes. The display offers a 0.5415mm x 0.5415mm dot pitch, an 8 ms response time and no less than 16.77-million 8-bit colors. Other important features are the brightness level (500 cd/m2), the contrast ratios (typical, 1000:1; dynamic, 2000:1), as well as the viewing angles (178 degrees on both horizontal and vertical directions).
The GV47LF is a full HD TV set, which means that it supports 1080p-grade resolution, but also the lower 480i (SDTV), 480P (EDTV), 720P (HDTV) and 1080i (HDTV). It also supports various PC resolutions (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1920 x 1080) via the appropriate interfaces. And since we've reached this particular subject, it's interesting to note that the VIZIO Gallevia GV47LF provides a full range of input options, including here RF, HDMI with HDCP, Analog Stereo Audio for HDMI Inputs, Component YPbPr plus Stereo Audio, Composite Video, S-Video plus Stereo Audio, Computer RGB plus Stereo Audio and a service port. There are also some useful outputs, namely an analog audio interface, a 5.1 SPDIF Digital Optical Audio connector and a headphone jack.
The VIZIO Gallevia GV47LF sells for around 1,800 US dollars, which might seem like a huge price point at first, but it's actually pretty OK, given the numerous features and extra-options the HDTV set can provide.
