There are so many mp3 players on the market these days that you just can't go wrong by trying to release something new. Sure, that doesn't mean you can go right either, I mean there's some pretty stiff competition from iPods and Zunes. I suppose that's exactly the kind of thinking Samsung used when releasing the YP-U4. The YP-U4 is a simple, quite basic mp3 player, but at the same time sports some elegant features meant to strip the user of unnecessary concerns. Although tiny, the device has a choice of eye catching gradient colors meant to make the little bugger stand out. By looking at the device, one might wonder how to connect it to a PC. Samsung used a pretty nifty idea and made the USB connector retractable. This means that you can connect the device to any PC without the need of any extra cables. The device houses a small OLED display in order to display artist and song title as well as track information. By using the provided software users can download free album art and then upload it on to the player. The album art will be displayed whenever a track from the respective album is played. Considering that there are hundreds of mp3 players on the market these days, the small and shy YP-U4 might not seem that interesting, but the truth is it doesn't even want to. It's just an ergonomic mp3 player for every day's use. Samsung even bundled an FM radio for those who get bored by their own music.
Although I think the 4GB of mp3s should keep you plenty entertained for those long walks in the city. There's also a voice recording feature (integrated microphone) if you ever want to take notes during the day. Price for the YP-U4 hangs around 69 US dollars. |
