IFOV (Instantaneous Field of View)

Instantaneous Field of View is the angular resolution of an imaging Field of View instrument that is determined by the size of the detector and the lens. For a point instrument the IFOV and FOV are the same.

Impedance

Impedance is a physical and electrical measure that shows how much does something (circuit, wire, loudspeaker, coil and so on) resist/impede the passing of electricity. Measured in Ohms, impedance is very useful when designing or wiring audio systems, so that the loudspeakers and the amplifiers are compatible.

Infrared

An area in the electromagnetic spectrum extending beyond red light from 760 nanometers to 1000 microns (106 nm). It is the form of radiation used for making non-contact temperature measurements.

Inkjet printers

Inkjet printers are among the most common devices of this type available on the market. The inkjet technology uses a special system that pulverizes (or sprays) ink droplets on a sheet of paper. These droplets are ionized, which allows them to arranged in a very orderly manner on the respective sheet. This is attained with the help of the printing head, which moves very rapidly across the sheet of paper, spraying the droplets. Inkjet printers are especially used by customers from the SOHO segment, but there are certain such items that are specialized in printing photographs, which attain very high resolutions and are capable of creating images of a superior quality.

Interlacing

Interlace (intretesere) – reprezinta un proces de alternare a liniilor video in vederea crearii unei imagini complete. In cazul ecranelor de tip CRT, fiecare cel de-al doilea camp/cadru este scanat in interiorul primului camp/imagine. Primul camp reprezinta liniile impare, iar cel de-al doilea camp le reprezinta pe cele pare. Acese campuri sunt aliniate si temporizate intr-o asemenea maniera in asa fel incat, in cazul unei imagini statice, ochiul uman le percepe ca pe unul singur. Semnalul de tip interlaced (intretesut) afiseaza doar jumatate din linii in orice moment. Astfel, spre exemply, un semnal high-definition cu rezolutia de 1080i transmite si afiseaza doar 540 de linii in a 60-a parte a unei secunde. Un semnal NTSC cu rezolutia de 480i transmite si afiseaza doar 240 de linii in a 60-a parte a unei secunde. Miscarea imaginilor “intretesute” poate duce la dezvoltarea de artefacte, in momentul in care cele doua campuri nu sunt perfect compatibile si nu creeaza un cadrul complet.

IPTV

Internet Protocol Television is a term used to describe the distribution of video and TV services via a broadband connection using Internet technology. IPTV is commonly associated with the delivery of on-demand TV, where viewers access programming as and when they want without waiting for broadcast schedules. In PC Internet terms, IPTV is used to describe the delivery of content over Internet infrastructure using a set of proprietary protocols developed by a technology provider such as Joost.
