The Red Book CD equals common audio CDs (CDDA � compact disc digital audio system) and is a standard for any of the CDs you have in your home. The �Red Book� tag draws its origin form the color of the original books that contained the specs for the CD and CD-R standards, created by Sony and Philips and released in June 1980.
