Yey, yet another netbook! This time, from Samsung. After having written for so many weeks about uninteresting, unexciting, and unattractive copycat netbooks, I have become pretty skeptical when it comes to any piece of news regarding the launch of yet another netbook. Be it Samsung, Acer, Asus, Dell, Apple or any other manufacturer for that matter.

As if wishing to confirm my skepticism regarding fresh appearances in the netbook industry, Samsung has provided us with specs and pictures of its new NC310 netbook. If you were looking for innovation or advancement of current technology, I am sorry to announce you that there's no such thing. In fact, the NC310 is you average 10.1-inch LCD, 1.23kg netbook.

No statement has been made regarding its CPU model or graphics card (although I bet it's Atom-based and has an integrated graphics adapter that offers modest, yet good performance) but we do know that it will have 1GB of RAM, 160 GB HDD, a 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities. Sounds familiar? Of course it does... that's what every netbook in the recent five weeks has been showing off.

However, the NC310 has a powerful battery that may offer 11 hours of runtime (unlike the five-hour standard battery). I say “may” because there's no knowledge as to what conditions we must fulfill (power saving mode or display turned off, etc.). As you might have guessed, the battery is what Samsung is counting on to ensure its success.

But forget the battery for a second and check out the photo to notice how the NC310 will look. A black, tan, baby-blue or purple casing with the name SAMSUNG written in big letters. Imagine walking with one of those on the street. Especially the baby-blue version. That is not cool, Samsung. Kitchen colors should remain in the kitchen! Get with the program already!
