I don't know about you, but whenever I come across anything related to the brand Jaguar, the first things that come to mind are luxury, class and speed. However, it seems that the future 2010 XKR and XFR Jaguar models will sport something else on the side, namely a pristine, audiophile-grade audio system provided by premium audio system manufacturer Bowers & Wilkins.
The Jaguar audio systems will feature core Bowers & Wilkins elements, in particular its well-known Kevlar midrange loudspeaker units and low-distortion, high-performance aluminum tweeters. The Kevlar speaker diaphragms for the Jaguar systems were specially designed to deliver musical purity and detail, bringing listeners as close to music as they might be at a live performance - even in the challenging mobile environment.
According to the company, unlike in the case of more conventional speaker designs, the dispersion of accurate musical balance is much more uniform. The aluminum tweeter domes were chosen because of their natural, distortion-free performance even under high dynamic demands, offering good quality audio regardless of moving speed and overall volume setting (of course, this has something to do with the vehicle's sound insulation, but that's a whole different story).
Now, although the cars themselves are not exactly our area of expertise (if that's what you're into, check out what our colleagues from
Autoevolution have to say about all-things automotive), we'll add a little something about the new XFR and XKR Jaguars, namely the fact that both feature the new AJ-V8 Gen III direct-injection engines, which promise to “deliver more power and more performance with no loss in fuel efficiencies and a decrease in emissions.”
The Bowers & Wilkins audio systems will be available right out of the factory for the XFR, XK Portfolio and XKR range of Jaguars, and only as an extra option in the XF, XF Portfolio and XK versions.
