Although we're pretty sure that most of you don't go swimming, rafting or trekking with an USB flash drive holding your most important data just hanging from your backpack/wrist, that doesn't mean the all those rugged and tough drives out there are without a target, and that also goes for A-Data's latest product of this type, the S007 USB flash drive.

While this thing ain't exactly the type of drive famous agent 007 would use, the storage device from A-Data does provide a pretty interesting set of specifications, starting with the fact that it's compliant with the US MIL-SPEC standards due to the fact that it packs a layer of military-grade protective rubber insulation provides waterproof and shock-resistant performance.

Unfortunately, the drive will only protect its precious contents while the cap is on, and we all know just how easily a flash drive's cap can get loose.

As far as the S007's transfer speed is concerned, things don't look particularly pretty, the drive reaching up to 30 MB/s for reading and up to 8MB/s for writing.

However, the company is at least providing more storage versions, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities being available.

In order to make up for the rather sluggish transfer speeds, the drive comes pre-loaded with some pretty interesting applications, including here the OStoGO tool that assists you by converting your Microsoft Windows 7 Installation DVD to an ADATA portable storage device, providing you the convenience of being able to quickly install Windows 7 via USB Booting without the need for an optical drive, as well as the UFDtoGo tool that synchronizes data, e-mails and your Favorites.

No details on the pricing and availability, but given its features, one shouldn't expect this thing to be priced significantly above the market average.
