As we've told you throughout the day, Canon's been pretty generous with the world of digital photographers, launching a very large number of new PowerShot digital cameras, divided into several separate series. Among today's announcements, we can also find three new models in the company's A series, the A2100 IS, A1100 IS and A480, all of which target the large segment of mainstream consumers, but mostly those who are looking for convenience above all things.
The first new model from the A series, the Canon PowerShot A2100 IS Digital Camera, is an averagely-featured and priced device, which provides a 12.1-megapixel resolution, 6x Optical Zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilization, large 3.0-inch LCD screen and Canon's new Smart AUTO function. For more versatility, the camera is powered by two AA batteries.
Next in line comes the Canon PowerShot A1100 IS digital camera, which provides a much more attractive exterior, since it's available in four different color options, including gray, blue, pink and green. It also provides 12.1-Megapixel resolution, a 4x Optical Zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilization, a 2.5-inch LCD screen with Optical Viewfinder and the new Smart AUTO feature.
Last, but certainly not least, comes the PowerShot A480 model, which, as you might remember, was released a short while ago in
Europe. As a quick reminder, this thing features a 10.0-Megapixel sensor and 3.3x Optical Zoom, with Canon's DIGIC III imaging processor and a 2.5-inch LCD screen. Enveloped in color, the new model gives consumers four color options to fit their style, including red, blue, silver and black.
Now, for the pricing. As mentioned right from the start, the A-series cameras are among the most affordable from Canon's 2009 lineup. Hence, the A2100 IS will sell for around 250 US dollars, when it arrives in stores in early April, while the A1100 IS will sell for around 199 US dollars. The A480 will sell in the US for $130 starting March, which is 60 dollars less than its European counterpart.
