You know, with so many games looming at the horizon that seek to take advantage of Microsoft's latest DirectX API, namely DirectX 11, we need to make sure our graphics adapters are up to the task. This is why ATI slash AMD has recently announced the ATI Radeon HD 5970, the flagship DirectX 11 card said to offer the best performance so as to allow gamers to enjoy their favorite titles the way their creators intended them to be enjoyed.

“With the arrival of the ATI Radeon HD 5970, the fastest graphics card in the world, we’ve cemented AMD as the unquestioned graphics leader,” said Matt Skynner, vice president and general manager, AMD Graphics Group. “With the holiday shopping season right around the corner, the new card, coupled with the awesome power of ATI Eyefinity technology, is the ultimate setup for serious gamers.”

The new ATI Radeon HD 5970 will be sporting the ATI Overdrive technology that seeks to push the card to its maximum and maybe a bit beyond, as well as the ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology. As far as future games that will be using DirectX 11 are concerned, you will be happy to know that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, Battlefield Bad Company 2, DIRT 2, Aliens vs. Predator, Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online Eberron Unlimited and Battleforge are just a few of the ones that come to mind right now.

I'll end the article with a little something from Frank Azor, senior product planning manager, Dell Gaming, “The extraordinary performance of the ATI Radeon HD 5970 is a perfect match for the Alienware Area-51, Area-51 ALX and Aurora desktops. […] By offering this level of graphics capability as well as the visual and performance enhancements made possible by DirectX 11 hardware, gamers will benefit from enhanced image quality enabling an incredibly intense gaming experience.”
