For various reasons, more and more people opt for purchasing a small form-factor PC (also known as SFF) instead of a full-fledged one, the main uses for such a solution being related to home entertainment, multimedia playback and mainstream gaming rather than actual work. So, in order to complete its lineup of
DirectX 11 compatible cards, AMD has just released its
ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card, which provides support for DirectX 11, as well as ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology and ATI Stream capabilities.
So, the
new GPU enables the use of up to three displays with a single ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card, while the ATI Stream technology helps to speed up video transcoding and to improve video playback performance with applications such as Adobe Flash. ATI Stream technology also delivers video enhancements that help enable better visual quality and seriously improved images.
Furthermore, the ATI Radeon HD 5570 delivers full 1080p HD playback, as well as HDMI 1.3a with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, thus making it a very interesting solution for multimedia playback.
The fresh GPU's engine is clocked at 650 MHz, while the sheer processing power is quite impressive, since we're talking about 520 GigaFLOPS. Furthermore, the card boasts a polygon throughput of 650M polygons/sec, while the memory data rate is set at 1.8 Gbps and the memory bandwidth at 28.8 GB/sec.
“AMD recognizes that small form factor PCs are becoming more popular and low profile graphics upgrade options have been limited to date,” said Matt Skynner, vice president and general manager, AMD Graphics Division. “Customers purchasing small form factor PCs are looking for improved performance while gaming, watching HD video or working with the latest productivity applications. The ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card delivers all of this at a price that won’t break the bank.”
Pricing for the new ATI Radeon HD 5570 is set at around 80 US dollars, which is exactly the price point of the Radeon HD 4670 model it replaces.
