Writing about the IT&C industry means that once in a while you get a really strange e-mail that you don't really know what to make of it, AMD's PR being responsible for the latest to hit our inbox, packed full of prices for the HD 5750 and HD 5770 Radeons.
Stating only “I got some great news from the colleagues over at sales,” and packing some links to price comparison engines that feature different HD 5750 and HD 5770 based solutions ranging in price from €99 to €129,90 we really don't know what to make of this e-mail. Is clear this is some kind of answer to NVIDIA's recently released GTS 450 graphics core, that, performance wise, comes in somewhere between the HD 5750 and HD 5770 as we already stated earlier, but why this has reached our inbox remains still a mystery, but we, of course, have a few theories. First one says this is indeed an e-mail that was meant for us, and due to time constraints or something of that sort it reached us in this pretty basic form. The second theory we have states this is some kind of e-mail that was meant only for AMD's PR agency and, following an unfortunate event, has reached us, while the third option is a lot more interesting saying this is actually an e-mail that was sent to us on purpose, but has been deliberately made to look like an internal leak. I know this sounds a lot like a cheap police novel, but this seems to be the preferred option over here at Softpedia. Whatever is the case, the e-mail has a point, since the GTS 450 was released carrying a €129,90 price tag in Europe, the same price the Radeon HD 5770 is available now, while this offers better performance in most cases as this review states. Of course that NVIDIA and ATI fans would go into a 3D Vision versus Eyefinity debate, but this is not my purpose since those guys have already made their minds, and choosing between these two comes down to personal preference. All in all, I would have to say the most important thing to note is competition is the driving force behind all this changes and the GTS 450 has definitely one thing going for it in my book, since it has manged to push mainstream graphics card pricing down and that is one major achievement. We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
