AOptix Technologies, one of the leading providers of advanced iris biometrics products, as well as long-distance wireless optical communication solutions, has unveiled today a strategic partnership for
iris biometric security with the Microsoft Global Security Operations Center in Redmond, Washington. Embedding the AOptix InSight iris recognition system will deliver the software giant, its customers and partners state of-the-art iris identification.
“To meet 21st Century security threats, we must forge strategic long-term partnerships with industry leaders such as AOptix,” said Brian Tuskan, senior director of operations, technology, investigations at Microsoft Global Security. “AOptix, a key Microsoft partner, is helping set a new standard for advanced iris biometrics with products such as the InSight device, which will bring enhanced security to our Global Security Operations Center in Redmond, Washington.”
Operating at a native distance of 2 meters, the InSight system fully automates the biometric image acquisition and ensures a consistent verification of the subject's identity, in just two seconds.
We have all seen it in movies, and it usually took way longer than that, so I can say this is impressive. Taking advantage of an innovative adaptive optical technology, the InSight can automatically “find” the subject's face and eyes, within a very large capture volume, thus ensuring that subject participation is effortless.
“Our innovative technology approach compliments Microsoft’s commitment to offer a suite of leading edge security solutions,” stated Dean Senner, chairman, president and CEO of AOptix Technologies. “We are delighted to be in partnership with Microsoft to bring comprehensive iris recognition to the unique and powerful security capabilities that Microsoft has put together.”
Furthermore, thanks to the large recognition space, the InSight system is very flexible to what regards different personnel needs, like height, varying from ADA wheelchairs and topping at 2.13 meters, even though people that tall usually go for basketball, rather than an environment that needs iris identification.
