As you might have learned from our previous articles on this topic, ASRock's been manufacturing for quite some time now a very interesting lineup of HTPCs, and now, the company's back with yet another extremely cool offering, the Vision 3D HTPC, which, as the name suggests, allows users to enjoy 3D content when paired with a compatible display and corresponding shutter glasses.
So, since wherever there's
3D and PCs are involved, NVIDIA's not far behind, it should come as no surprise that the 3D Vision is powered by the GeForce GT425M GPU, which enables not only DirectX 11 gaming, but also packs such famed technologies as NVIDIA PhysX, NVIDIA 3D Vision, and NVIDIA Optimus.
Naturally, the reason why the Vision 3D unit from ASRock is capable of the 3D feats mentioned above is the NVIDIA 3D Vision technology, but I guess most of you know already quite enough on this topic in order for us to move along.
Aside from the NVIDIA components, the HTPC can also feature a choice of Core i3,i5 or i7 CPUs (it natively packs the Core i3 370M processor), up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, a 500GB HDD and 7.1-channel audio with THX support.
The only major difference between the available models is the optical unit (
Blu-ray vs. DVD Super-multi), but we'd probably go for the BD version, simply because it's a bit more future-proof.
Similar to previous HTPCs from ASRock, the Vision 3D also offers a very comprehensive collection of connectivity and networking options, ranging from HDMI 1.4 and USB 3.0 to a 4-in-1 card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and DVI ports.
Pricing for this advanced 3D solution has been set at around 1000 US dollars, which, in fact, is quite an OK one, all things considered.
