Everybody is by now well accustomed to
race car inspired notebooks and even netbooks, since Ferrari and BMW
already have a fair number of this units out in the wild, but
Lamborghini and ASUS seem to be falling behind since the Lamborghini
VX6 netbook, announced at Computex 2010, hasn't been launched until
now.
But that is bound to change since
latest reports state that the VX6's manual has shown up online on
ASUS's website pointing to an IFA launch.
We already covered the initial Computex
announcement, but if you are not familiar with the VX6 you should
know that ASUS's future netbook will feature a dual-core Intel Atom
D525 processor together with NVIDIA's Next Generation ION graphics
solution with 512MB of VRAM.
The race car inspired netbook will also
carry a 1366x768 pixels 12 inch display, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory,
WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity as well as two USB 3.0 ports and
HDMI output.
Early reports also suggested that the
netbook will be able to render 3D content and pack a Bang &
Olufsen, ICEpower sound system similar to the one in the
ASUS N73Jn
we recently reviewed.
Performance wise things certainly look
pretty well but I have to wonder about what battery life we can get
out of this as the Atom D525 processor lacks Enhanced Intel SpeedStep
Technology.
Optimus should however by present (as
this is one of the main features that ION2 brings over its older
sibling) so that should alleviate power consumption when the
netbook is used in less graphics intensive situations.
Although the VX6 certainly looks nice,
those of you that aren't Lamborghini fans should search elsewhere as
that raging bull emblem bring the price all the way up to $699, a
figure more fitting for a notebook that a netbook. (via
