Although I definitely understand why someone would need a desktop replacement notebook I am not sure why would somebody want one of these six-core, dual graphics cards packing behemoths that many companies tout as “the ultimate gaming laptop in existence, ” like the AVADirect Clevo X7200.
I mean, they're hot, extremely expensive, will become outdated relatively soon and aren't as fast as desktop computers while being only slightly more portable.
This is also the case with the aluminum-clad X7200 that support Intel's latest
six-core Gulftown processors (designed to be used in desktop systems), up to 12 GBs of triple channel DDR3 memory and 2TB of Hard Disk space or 1TB of SSD storage thanks to the three 9.5 mm drive bays with onboard RAID support.
Dual
GTX 480M configurations are also available, AVADirect promising us a mobile workstation variant of the X7200 will be released soon that will enable users to install 24GB of DDR3 triple channel memory, two Quadro 5000M GPUs in SLI as well as the latest six-core Intel Xeon processors.
"With its unrivaled expandability, unheard of performance, and unmistakable versatility, the X7200 is truly the ultimate desktop replacement notebook," says Griffin Ralston, Director of Analytics and Development at AVADirect.
"The X7200 custom
gaming notebook is an immensely powerful portable gaming station, and finally allows our customers an uncompromising alternative to the conventional desktop gaming PC," says Misha Troshin, CMO and Co-Owner of AVADirect.
The base price for the X7200 is around $2,700 and includes a Quad-core Intel desktop processor, 3 GB's of DDR3 memory, one GeForce GTX 480M GPU, a 500 GB HDD, and Windows 7 Home Premium, a lot to pay for a system that is bound to become outdated sooner or later.
