Android smartphones are a normal occurrence by now, so manufactures have started to do their best in order to personalize their offerings, the leaked Acer Liquid Metal coming in with an all metal chassis.
Looking at the pictures available online, this stylish smartphone seems to be covered by an all aluminum finish, that will surely provide an scratch resistant coating.
Specification wise, the Liquid Metal will be your basic Android device, packing a 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7230 processor, 512MB of RAM memory and an Adreno 205 graphics solution, so nothing unusual here.
This configuration is actually slower then what we are accustomed by now, since almost all the high-end Android smartphones released nowadays feature a 1GHz processor, the Adreno 205 graphics solution being also a lot slower then the PowerVR SGX 540 GPU used in the
Samsung Galaxy S.
Liquid Metal also comes with a 3.6 inch capacitative display, capable of supporting 800x480 resolution, although this is a TFT-LCD panel.
Software may be somehow more interesting then the hardware used by Acer, since this features
Android 2.2, that brings full Flash support, and the
Acer Shell 4.0 user interface.
No words on pricing and availability just yet, but given its aluminum finish I expect this to be launched as a premium device, although the hardware used is a little behind the curve. (
