Active Media Products, one of the many (already) manufacturers of SSDs and innovative (mais oui) USB drives, has just launched the new Aviator-2 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 external 2.5-inch SSDs, supplying customers with a 400% gain in performance, when compared to the USB 2.0 throughput speed, since the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard can handle transfer speeds of up to 4.8Gbit/sec. That alone is ten times faster than USB 2.0, thus customers will notice a dramatically improved flow of data when getting acquainted to the new port.

Sadly, there aren't many manufacturers that have implemented USB 3.0 as a standard yet, like USB 2.0 is (namely the six ports, 12 ports on a mainboard), but that's cool, because by the time it will be common, the massive bandwidth will be benefiting all of us, ensuring an impressive performance in mobile flash storage, just like the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Aviator-2 SSD is already doing.

The Aviator-2 is also delivered as an external case that sports USB 3.0 connectivity, and is made of solid aluminum to provide both an accurate cooling and a little shock protection. Nice of the company to take out just the enclosure too, since some people might like to fit it with their own capacity of choice, or hard disk/SSD model of their desire.

As for the ones that want the SSD model, mind that it is available in capacities of 64GB and 128GB, with pricing set at $259.95 and $449.95, respectively, whereas the simple enclosure will deposes you of merely $34.95. Now, that's a complete offer, since customers can choose on their own if they afford the luxury of SSD or just the enclosure. All versions are merely over 3 x 5 inches in size, thus pocketable and will work in any USB 2.0 or 1.1 port; of course, at those port speeds.
