Active Media Products, one of the manufacturers of SSDs and the already endangered USB drives, has just added a fresh 128GB capacity drive to the company's SaberTooth ZX series of 1.8-inch PATA ZIF SSDs. This newly introduced 128GB SSD is
probably the most suitable solution for upgrading popular laptops and netbooks, especially considering the 80MB/sec sequential read speeds and 38MB/sec sequential write speeds the drive sports.
"Now you can get up to 128GB of capacity in a very fast and reliable 1.8-inch ZIF SSD. This drive will make a lot of power users and mobile professionals happy with the performance and capacity gain. By removing the storage bottleneck most systems will enjoy substantially faster performance," Active Media Products' VP of Sales, Jerry Thomson said in a statement.
As for the physical size of this, it only measures a mere 70 x 54 x 5mm, namely the same dimension as 1.8-inch hard disk drives. Connectivity is suited via one parallel ATA (PATA / IDE) ZIF interface, and supports PIO mode 6 and Ultra DMA mode 6. The SamerTooth ZX is perfectly compliant with virtually any netbook that uses a 1.8-inch PATA ZIF hard drive. Definitely, this is
one of the fastest and easiest ways of upgrading a wide array of mobile computers to both higher performance and more local storage, as well as lower power consumption.
The SaberTooth ZX family from Active Media Products now includes 32GB, 64GB and 128GB flavored SSD units, for users to choose from, with this last introduction available now, for $379. Should you be reminded of the benefits of SSD modules, as compared to HDDs, you should be told that SSDs have no moving parts, are lighter, produce less heat and are definitely more rugged and reliable than HDDs, plus ensure a completely silent operation.
