As more and more people opt for 3D broadband Internet services, due to the very high level of versatility and portability they provide,
3G routers are also becoming increasingly popular. And, in fact, that's exactly the type of product we'll talk about as follows, namely the Traveler 3G II Portable Wireless Router developed by AirLive, which makes it much easier for users to share 3G or xDSL internet among more devices (PC, notebooks, etc.).
The slim form factor of the router makes it extremely suitable for usage on the go, while the built-in rechargeable Li-On battery provides users the possibility to surf the internet for up to 2 hours anywhere, as long as they're within the coverage area of a
3G network.
All the router requires is an USB modem from a 3G mobile internet provider, whose connection can be shared over 11B/G/N Wi-Fi or also through an Ethernet cable. AirLive's router can also work as a standard home router that is compatible with broadband access, so when the data stream drops from the wired connection, the
3G will work as backup.
The AirLive Traveler 3G comes packed with drivers for many well-known 3G modems (Vodafone, Alcatel, T-Mobile, Quanta, Maxon, ZTE and many others), so there's very little chance that you'll require a driver installation. Furthermore, security is assured thanks to WPS (Wifi protected Setup) button or WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption, the device also using a built in firewall to protect connections to the router.
Unfortunately, we haven't managed to come across any pricing data, but the device will apparently become available on the market by the end of July, and we promise to get a quotation by then.
