Given its extensive expertise in the field of portable media playback devices (albeit mid-range products), it was expected for Apacer to try and seriously tackle the home entertainment segment at some point. And this is exactly the plan with its brand new AL350 Digital Media Player, a gadget that offers users fast and easy access to multimedia content, directly onto their HDTVs.
Similar to most other products of this type available out there, the AL350 Digital Media Player is compatible with a very wide array of files, including here MPEG-1, MPEG-2, xvid, JPEG, MP3, WAV files. Furthermore, it supports subtitles and can even upscale the video being played back up to 1080i/720p. Since the AL350 features Human Machine Interaction (HMI) technology, working with it is in fact a very easy process. Practically, there are no complicated steps necessary to use the player and users don’t need to take off the cover to install a hard disk. Practically, all they have to do is simply plug in a USB storage device, like a flash memory or USB hard disk, switch on the television and the movies can be played right away. The player supports on-screen display (OSD) in 13 languages, which means that setting it up is also fast and easy.
As expected, the AL350 Digital Media Player comes packed with a fairly extensive number of connectivity options, including here the aforementioned USB port plus HDMI, Composite video and stereo audio jacks, component video jack, a coaxial S/PDIF interface and a SCART adapter. Plus, it occupies somewhat of a small space around the house, given the fact that it measures somewhere around 130 x 24 x 84 mm, at an overall weight of 124 grams. The Apacer AL350 Digital Media Player sells for somewhere under 100 US dollars, which makes it a very good deal, especially for those users on a budget looking for a versatile, but at the same time, affordable product.
