Christmas has come and gone but hasn't really managed to do anything about the large number of Apple-related rumors floating around the Internet. Of course, now that the iPod and iPhone are no longer hot topics, pretty much everyone's talking about the issue of an alleged
Apple tablet, which should apparently be announced towards the end of January and which should be called... the iSlate.
There are numerous rumor sources here, so we won't go naming all of them, but rather provide somewhat of a sum-up of what the most important of them are saying. So, basically, there are very good chances that this future touchscreen-enabled device developed by the company from Cupertino will come equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen display (according to
Boy Genius Report quoting some pretty trustworthy sources). Another, larger model might also be envisioned, but the initial version will only measure 7 inches across.
MacRumors, on the other hand, has made quite a lot of fuss about uncovering the true name of the future Apple tablet, with the apparent result being... the iSlate. In fact, following a fairly extensive investigation, the aforementioned source uncovered the fact that
Apple owns the iSlate.com domain, drawing from here the conclusion that this is also the name of the future tablet.
Another important source is
AppleInsider, which quotes several major publications, claiming that the launch of an Apple
tablet equipped with a touchscreen is imminent and that the alleged device should become official in early 2010. AppleInsider's info, however, points to a 10-inch iSlate, rather than a 7-inch one.
Now, of course, until Apple decides to finally put an end to speculations and get official with this thing, we'll be seeing a lot more rumors around the Internet. Of course, it remains to be seen whether this will happen and if so, when. And what the diagonal size will be. And the price... Too many unknowns, don't you think?
