Archos seems to be keen on making a name for itself on the Internet tablets' market (after all, it's one of the first companies out there to have actually released an Internet tablet onto the market), and for this reason, it's decided to launch at the same time no less than five new Android-tablets, all to be available at some extremely attractive price points.
The devices in question are the ultra portable ARCHOS 28 and 32 Internet tablets, the ARCHOS 43 multi-media powerhouse, as well as the widescreen ARCHOS 70 and 101 internet tablets.
The smaller
ARCHOS 28 and 32 internet tablets bring the Android OS to MP3 and MP4 players, since, beside music and video playback, the low-cost, pocket-sized devices now also offer email, web browsing, music and video streaming, 3D gaming, eBooks, social networking and other entertainment, productivity and information-based apps.
The devices are also compatible across the major music and video formats, so there's no need for conversion or the inconvenience of dedicated software support, while the A32 internet tablet also includes a camcorder for video and photos.
The ARCHOS 43 model offers consumers a full multimedia experience, with 720p HD video playback as standard.
Plus, it also packs a HDMI TV output that offers the Android, multimedia and games experience on one's TV, the tablet also doubling as a game pad for one's TV thanks to the built-in accelerometer and 3D open GL technology so users can enjoy a unique gaming experience.
The ARCHOS 43
internet tablet also sports a 2 megapixel HD camcorder to capture video and photos than end user can share on the web or on the HD TV screen.
Finally, the latest two models in the series are the ARCHOS 70 and 101, the latter actually being the flagship model in this new family.
The Archos 101 sports a 10.1-inch display, while also being 0.47 inches thick and weighing only 15.87 ounces.
The tablet features a powerful 1 GHz processor, high-speed WiFi-n technology and
supports the Adobe Flash 10.1 player, while also featuring a built-in webcam.
In addition, a new feature in the Android settings menu means that the devices can also be tethered to a 3G phone via Bluetooth or USB for Internet connectivity when on the move.
The ARCHOS 28 internet tablet will be available in September at 4GB, with a recommended retail price of $99.99, while its next-of-kin, the ARCHOS 32, will also arrive in September, at 8GB, with a recommended retail price of $149.99.
Also featuring 8GB of built-in memory, the ARCHOS 43 internet tablet will be available this fall at 8GB with a recommended retail price of $199.99, while the ARCHOS 70 has a recommended retail price of $274.99 (8GB) and $349.99 (250GB).
Last, but certainly not least, the ARCHOS 101 will also be available in two versions, selling for $299.99 (8GB) and $349.99 (16GB).
