I was really wondering what technology would do to safety of firearms, and one of the answers I got came from Armatix that developed a high-tech gun (the one you see pictured on the left), which
has safety to what regards the owner risking to get shot with their own gun.
That is because the gun won't fire if taken too apart from that "retro" watch you see on the man's wrist, and there's no chance any attacker would want that watch. Practically, the gun gets instantly disarmed and will light its LED in red when the corresponding watch is not close enough to send a wireless signal to the gun.
I am really curious what demand will be for this, as it will at least stop the cases when a person gets shot with their own gun after taking it out to defend themselves. I don't think I even have to point the use of this in military applications, disabling the weapons for the enemy to use.
Other cases that I have heard of are the ones with children taking their parents firearm, usually a handgun, and accidentally shooting a friend or something like that. Hopefully, the potential buyers' children won't come across any information about Armatix's gun to find out they have to steal the watch too, while the cool children won't even think about that when
noticing what an ugly watch they would have to wear.
Nevertheless, the manufacturer told us this .22 caliber weapon would be available and shipping this February, with a price tag of 7,000 euro that makes it under the $10,000 tag in America. It would be the funniest thing ever if the watch was not included in that price. Also, as pinpointed by a commenter on a third-party website, the time on the watch says 211, which is the police code for "Armed Robbery in Progress." I simply adore subtle things like that, and cheers to the people with a hawk's eye for that.
