Already available in the US since last year, Asus has just launched its (not quite) latest product towards Europe's direction, namely the MS238H 23-inch LED-backlit LCD monitor that should also start being available soon. It is the one you can see pictured to the left of the article, and has a total size summing up 567 x 407 x 151 mm, and will arrive in a glossy black bezel finish.
The resolution, sadly,
as with all consumer-level displays, is just a mere Full HD, as in 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, aside from a smooth and decent 1,920 x 1,200. Many of you will ask what's a mere 120 pixels worth.
Well, for me, they're worth very much actually, as I use image post processing software, and no, I cannot afford a professional monitor yet. Here's a reason why one would want a 16:10 aspect ratio and 1,920 x 1,200 resolution - because you can still watch full HD with no distortion, just one 60 pixel bar at the top and bottom of the screen, but still have the optimum ratio for viewing electronic A4 documents.
As for the technical specifications of the MS238H, they include a 2ms response time, for gray to gray, over a maximum brightness of 250 candles per square meter, and an exaggeratedly high dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1.
Downsides of this I can't actually find within the technical properties, but I can relate to a major downside over the 3.8 kilogram weight (personally, I don't mind the weight). Connectivity is already standard, with a D-Sub and an HDMI input, so that
customers can use this both on their PCs and on their set-top boxes and media centers.
With a three-year warranty, the Asus MS238H 23-inch LED-backlit LCD monitor will be found at pricing as low as $290.33.
