Ever since my first encounter with the N73Jn multimedia notebook from Asus (or better said, ever since my ears made direct contact with the amazing sound provided by the N73Jn's sound system), I really wanted to get to experience that sensation one more time, and, of course, share the whole feeling with you. And courtesy of our friends from Asus, that's exactly what I'll do as follows, hopefully managing to at least partially re-create the overall sensations one might get when using Asus' multimedia notebook.

Before going deeper into what makes this notebook a multimedia powerhouse, a few introductory words. So, the N73Jn has made its way into our hearts and minds back at CeBIT 2010, but since then, it sort of slipped into the shadows, only making its mysterious appearance here and there, getting just about everyone pretty stocked with its audio (the result of a collaboration between Asus and Bang&Olufsen) and then disappearing once more. And I'm pretty sure that the saga is far from over.

There are several reasons why I'd dare to say that the N73Jn really has a shot at the title of the “world's best multimedia notebooks”, and the main reason is, of course, the aforementioned audio technology developed by Asus and Bang&Olufsen, known as SonicMaster, which leverages the high audio quality provide by the latter's ICEpower speaker tech.

To sum things up, the SonicMaster technology and ICEpower high-end components turn the N73Jn from an elegant, business-type desktop replacement into an audiophile-grade product, which will not only satisfy most users' taste for volume (I mean, you can throw a decent party using just the notebook's built-in audio system and nothing more), but also an audiophile's penchant for high audio quality.

Naturally, the Intel Core CPU, huge amount of storage space provided by the dual HDDs, as well as the NVIDIA Optimus technology, whose purpose is to extend the available battery life, play a very important role in the experience provided by Asus' N73Jn. However, in order to see for yourselves exactly to what extent that happens, I'll invite you to check out the next sections of this review.
