Back at CES, NVIDIA introduced to the world its latest GPU designed specifically for portable computing systems, the GT 120M. And now, only a month later, Asus has come up with the first notebook to incorporate the CUDA-enabled GT 120M, the N81Vg.
But what's so special about this GeForce engine? Well, the GT 120M packs the advanced NVIDIA CUDA technology, which provides up to 110 gigaflops of computing power for various applications, such as video conversion and High Definition enhanced DVD playback with up to 15 times higher frame rate. Furthermore, if we're talking about high definition, the NVIDIA PureVideo HD can take care of 100% of the video decoding process, producing good-quality 1080p High Definition images.
Apart from the NVIDIA GT 120M GPU, the new notebook from Asus also includes an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU (users being able to choose from the T9400/P8600/P8400/P7350/T6600/T6400/T5900 and T5800 variants), up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, a Mobile Intel PM45 Express chipset, as well as one SATA HDD up to 500GB.
Moreover, the N81Vg sports a 14-inch LED backlit display, an optical unit (either a DVD Super Multi unit or a Blu-ray combo) and a 1.3-megapixel webcam.
Of course, Asus is quite proud of its new product, and this can be seen quite clearly from the statement made by Alvin Chou, Senior Product Manager of ASUS’ Notebook Business Unit, who declared that "We are proud to offer consumers a notebook that is capable of providing spectacular graphics and stunning clarity while maintaining effortless mobility. By combining sublime graphics performance, smart technologies and supreme ease of use, the N81Vg is the ideal notebook for those who would like to enjoy multimedia to the fullest."
Sadly, no pricing information has been provided for the time being, but given the fact that it packs such and advanced, high-performance GPU, it's very likely that this thing won't come cheap at all.
