You know how in action flicks, the hero always tells “The Girl” to stay put but she never listens? Well, Asus, as if not hearing fans' plea to stop making identical Eee portable computing devices, has come up with another identical masterpiece of design.
As you well know, the Eee line of Asus netbooks is full of identical netbooks in look, feel and performance. The Eee PC Seashell 1008HA will allow users to surf the Internet in style and... that's about it. It comes in White, Black, Blue, Pink, Sapphire Blue and Ruby Red colors, weighs just 1.1KG, has a seashell-inspired design (wow!) and is also energy efficient.
What's with the seashell design? Well, it is said to offer increased durability and a scratch-resistant exterior. As for the design itself, I'm really trying my best to notice something extraordinary but no matter how hard I try, this device still looks a lot like all the other hundreds of Eee-branded netbooks out there.
Although you might know them by heart by now, here are the specs that support the latest and greatest Eee masterpiece: a 10-inch LED-backlit WSVGA Screen, an Intel Atom N280 processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB SATA HDD, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth 2.1, 1.3mp webcam, as well as the usual USB ports or MMC/SD card reader.
These specs are so common that if you were to wake me up in the middle of the night and ask me what processor a netbook has I would immediately answer “Intel Atom N270 or N280.” Like I said in previous articles, I am really looking forward to seeing something new from Asus. Until then, farewell and know that pricing has not been mentioned as of yet.
